Not all tattoos are simply art alone. Some are armor. Some are gentle reminders. Some have a messy & complicated story and some are just necessary at the time.
One of my most meaningful tattoos is a Memento Mori hourglass, a reminder that death comes for us all. It seems harsh to some, but the meaning is powerful to me. There’s a profound ache in losing those we love, a pain most of us never fully recover from. And yet somehow, we find the strength to keep going. To me, this tattoo is a reminder not to let fear or grief hold me back, to keep living fully, to love boldly, and to treasure every moment while I still can.
There’s something profound about watching the body become a map of our experiences. The designs aren’t always perfect, the pain isn’t always comfortable, and just like healing, the process isn’t always linear; but each mark carries meaning. Tattoos can hold courage, grief, love, and hope all at once. They remind us that our bodies are living records of our stories, that healing isn’t just something we feel...it’s something we carry in our skin. With every line, every shade, every symbol, we witness our growth, honor the chapters we’ve lived, and create reminders that we are resilient, whole, and deserving of love and acceptance.
Body art has a way of making the invisible visible, of giving form to what we’ve endured, what we’ve celebrated, and what we are still learning to hold. Each piece becomes a quiet affirmation, a touchstone for reflection, a gentle nudge to move through life with courage and intention. Tattoos can mark our triumphs, hold our heartbreak, and remind us of the strength it takes to keep going, to keep loving, and to keep growing.
If you’ve ever paused over a design because it felt too personal or too permanent, those are often the tattoos that speak the deepest truths. They are acts of bravery, self-expression, and love for yourself. It’s a way to give yourself permission to heal, to grow, and to honor a part of your story in only a way you can tell.
Keep what feels right. Let the rest go; and always Ink with Intention <3
